Delicious food in an Authentic Place.
We are very sorry to write that unfortunately ‘Peppervine’ is no more.
A devastating fire in March 2022 burned the restaurant to the ground :(.
However, we would like to leave this blog post here as a fitting tribute to what was one of Mission Beach’s finest eateries.
‘Peppervine’ Restaurant
We had heard so much about Peppervine Restaurant in Mission Beach - “...an authentic and quirky place where the food is absolutely amazing”. So, we decided to go for a feast and invited a couple with whom we share the passion for good food. So, a double-date at Peppervine!
Of course, we checked the menu before going and it looked so so good! Very international with Spanish tapas, some Asian dishes like Gado Gado salad, pizzas and pasta to enjoy Italian cuisine, and not to mention all the seafood and modern Australian dishes as well. Among these, you could find sophisticated dishes as well as simple ones that still sounded so delicious.
When we arrived, we realised how close to the ocean this restaurant was. The setting looked so cute, with lots of fairy lights, candles, colours and quirky decoration and details. Not to mention the funny message on a chalkboard up on the wall saying “All Americans (that is, Trump voters) must be accompanied by an adult”. After laughing about it while we waited to be seated we were taken to a nice high table outside by one of the waitresses. From the very beginning, you could tell that the service was not only super-friendly but authentic and relaxed too, giving nice energy to the place.
The specials board that night could not have been better! As an entree, there was a tempura Whiting fish with fresh ginger and wasabi sauce. Yum! Japanese inspired cuisine was the cherry on the cake. Then, for mains, they were offering a special pasta with local pink mushrooms and other mushroom varieties. After looking at the menu and the specials board it was clear that the four of us wanted to try and enjoy as many dishes as we could so we decided to order several at the same time and share them all.
Of course, both specials were the first ones we decided to get and then we added the Prawn and Scallop crepe entree, plus the Vongole pasta and the Sweet Potato and Cashew pasta. Since we were having a feast, we decided to complete it with a nice red wine, but while we waited for the food we ordered some German and Belgian beers that didn’t disappoint at all. We were pretty impressed by the good beer selection that they had.
When the food arrived we were amazed, not only by the smell of it but by its looks! So thoughtfully presented with so many fun and beautiful garnishes, you could tell that every plate was prepared with so much dedication. And when we tasted it? Everything was absolutely amazing. My absolute favourite was the Prawn and Scallop crepe. Prepared in a pot inside the woodfire oven, it came super-hot, full of flavour, cheese, and more creamy ingredients that melted in your mouth. I would definitely get that one just for me next time I go, no sharing this time :D. All the dishes were so good too. My favourite for mains was the Sweet Potato and Cashew pasta. All the ingredients in this dish blend into each other really well. Plus the pasta was perfectly cooked. I could go on with every dish we had, but just trust me, all of them were delicious!

The chef himself came to talk to us after our meals. Apart from complimenting all his food, we wanted to know more. He told us that all the pasta, pizza bases and desserts were made by them! And that almost every dish could be adapted to gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. How good is that?
If we would have to change anything about this experience it would have been two things. First, ordering first the entrees and then the mains since they got a bit cold while having the other food. The second one, I would have left some room for dessert. All of them sounded so good and I got to see a couple passing by, garnished and presented so beautifully.
And so, now you know! If you are looking for a super-delicious dinner date, in a place with relaxed and good energy (the perfect combination for me), you must go to Peppervine!
