The local tips you won’t want to miss!
Make it real quality time
Read below to find the tips you are looking for to get the most out of your stay at Treetops by the Sea.
(And don’t forget to check out our blog posts for more detailed information - there are heaps of locals’ tips and secrets to be found there!)
Family Time.
Let’s start with the fact that the beaches in this area are Awe-some! Drive to Bingil Bay beach, or any of the beaches around this coast and enjoy the amazing water and soft sand. Take a picnic! There are many tables to sit in and even free electric barbecues to cook a feast!
Want your kids to burn some energy? Take them to Wongaling Beach skate park & water games, they will absolutely love it. There are tables and barbecues just there to enjoy some food while your kids play. There is more information here.
And definitely don’t miss the Mission Beach Sunday markets, they go on every 1st, 3rd and last Sunday of the month. Pop up for fresh products, fun clothes, souvenirs, jewellery, home decor, plants, occasional live music and much, much more.
After the market head on to Lenny’s Tropical Fruit and Veg for some nice and fresh smoothies or slushies and good quality food as well!
Outdoor and Nature.
Here we can go forever, but we will put our top favourites. Alligator’s nest is a must if you love creeks, fresh water and just feel surrounded by nature. Don’t worry about its name, the only danger is that you will not want to leave! Here you will find the directions to get there in only 30 minutes.
Dunk Island is another place you definitely have to check out. With water taxies that depart from South Mission Beach, you can visit the island for the day, or choose to stay overnight for a fun camping adventure! Check the water taxi information here and read our blog post to get all the details!
If you are looking for a friendly & close hike with an amazing view, Bicton hill is for you. 2 minutes by car from Treetops, you will enjoy an easy 30 minutes hike in the rainforest with a spectacular view at the top. Don’t miss it!
Feel like flying? Don’t miss the skydiving experience! You can check their webpage here.
Tours.
If you are a really sweet and a chocolate fan person, then the Charlie’s Chocolate tour is for you. With lots of information, product tasting and a demonstration of the process of making chocolate, this tour is unmissable. Check it out here!
Paronella Park is also something you can’t miss. About 40 minutes by car from Bingil Bay, you can book a tour (for day or night) for fantastic photo opportunities, remarkable architecture, an incredible story, 5ha of tropical gardens, and much more.
Fozzy's 3 Hour, 3 Island Tour is also a really good way to explore these remarkable islands with experienced skippers. You can even get to spot whales during the season! Click here for more information.
Food, food, food!
One of our favourites sections! What are amazing holidays without amazing food? Let’s start with the best in our opinion: Peppervine Restaurant. This hippie authentic restaurant will definitely not disappoint, but we are not going into details now because we have a whole blog post talking about this, check it out!
Following the good and hippie vibes, you must also visit Bingil Bay Cafe for a local neighbourhood experience. Open every day from breakfast to dinner, you will love their food and energy. For nice coffee & breakfast head to Shanti Cafe in Mission Beach, as they say, great food, good vibes and even better coffee!
If you are looking for good Asian food, then Thai Chill is the one. This BYO restaurant in Mission Beach centre is delicious!
Nightlife.
Wanting some social life? This area does have a couple of fun night activities you can’t miss.
For instance, live music nights in Bingil Bay Cafe is a must! Head in for good music, delicious meals, and beers. Trivia night in this same place is pretty fun too! Check their events on their Facebook page here.
The Garage is one of our favourites. With a nice setting near Mission Beach beach, enjoy a layback dining with good beers and live music on Sundays.
Mission Beach Tavern is definitely a social spot to meet people too. With a big variety of drinks, food, and pool contest on Thursdays, this place can be pretty fun to hang out.
